By knowing each of you through the blessings of this work, the golden thread of consciousness reveals itself as a living, breathing, pulsating network that joins us all. I am inspired by you and will continue to share with you here.
Nikki Costello is a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher (CIYT) and a Certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT). For 30 years, her teaching has been influenced by annual trips to India including eight visits to RIMYI (Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute in Pune), the study of philosophical and scriptural texts and a daily practice of meditation. In 2013, Nikki was a contributing editor at Yoga Journal, writing the magazine’s “Basics Column'' and in 2016 she was named one of the 100 Most Influential Yoga Teachers in America. Nikki is recognized as a thought leader in the global Yoga community and shares her wisdom and expertise in Yoga and meditation retreats around the world.
Building bridges through pedagogy and possibility
Like all true teachers, Nikki is at home in process and paradox. She asks the deeper question, never settling, always curious. She is a keen listener of self and others, building bridges in thought, pedagogy, and possibility. She connects past and future. Her work is boundless, brave, and easeful. She is wildly knowledgeable which makes her able to read any room and honor each student’s (person’s) capacity. Nikki leads by example, empowering others and creating a vast community of kindness. After teaching alongside Nikki for thirty years, she never ceases to astonish and inspire.

Informed and thoughtful understanding
Nikki’s interest in yoga pedagogy finds expression in two major and effective ways. One is that she draws on her attentive study of foundational texts from the history of yoga as she brings to her teaching an informed and thoughtful understanding of the philosophies that support the practices of yoga and meditation today. And, in a deeply helpful and encouraging manner, she guides and supports her students toward their own increasingly sophisticated understanding and, importantly, of ways to apply that understanding effectively to their own practices.

An interwoven body of consciousness
We each have our own story, a reason, that led us toward an exploration of Yoga. However we began, cultivating a Yoga practice of one’s own, inspires self-knowledge, which is why I developed The Practice. The Practice is an ever-evolving curriculum for anyone who wishes to be empowered in the body, to relax into one’s natural state and to develop clarity toward one’s purpose.
